How a Lahore Steel Fabrication Company Got Everything on One Dashboard with Gluon ERP

Many manufacturers start with software that does part of the job. It handles some needs, but not others, and eventually the gaps start to cost time. That was the situation at Spleen Manufacturing before it moved to Gluon ERP.

We sat down with Rana Shahbaz Ahmed, Head of Business Development at Spleen Manufacturing, to hear how the move went, what was difficult, and what has changed after more than a year.

About Spleen Manufacturing

Spleen Manufacturing is based in Lahore and deals in transmission line and telecommunication structures, security camera poles and all kinds of steel fabrication. It works with the major telecom operators, and its camera poles have gone to housing societies, government and semi-government bodies and military organizations. The company has also taken part in Safe City projects across the country, with work in Gwadar and Karachi.

The challenge: a system that was not built for them

Before Gluon, the company used software that was not customized. It operated within certain fixed parameters, so some of Spleen's needs were being solved and others were not. When the team felt there had to be something more, they started looking.

The decision: three to four sessions

The Gluon ERP team got in touch and held discussions and meeting sessions with Spleen. After three to four sessions, Spleen decided to go with Gluon.

Rana Shahbaz describes the Gluon team as a group of professionals. Spleen shared its requirements, and the team responded with suggestions and formats to capture data properly. As both sides kept refining, the software was developed fully around those requirements.

The honest part: early hurdles

It was not perfectly smooth from day one. Spleen ran into some hurdles, problems and linkage issues at the start. The Gluon team resolved them, and things got smoother as time passed.

That matters if you are planning your own ERP project. Early issues are normal. What counts is how quickly your partner fixes them.

Today: one dashboard, top-priority support

Spleen has now used Gluon ERP for more than a year. According to Rana Shahbaz, no major problems are coming up. When small technical issues appear, the team contacts Gluon's service desk and gets top-priority attention.

“Those parameters, those reports, things that used to be beyond our control, we now check all of them in one place, on our dashboard.” Rana Shahbaz Ahmed, Head of Business Development, Spleen Manufacturing

The company says it is performing better, and it has recommended Gluon ERP to many other industries.

Why they recommend Gluon

“It is not important whether a company is a multinational. What matters is that your software service provider understands your basic needs and provides solutions accordingly.” Rana Shahbaz Ahmed, Head of Business Development, Spleen Manufacturing

Quotes are translated into English from the video, which is in Urdu and English.

Lessons for other manufacturers

  • Generic software leaves gaps. If some needs are met and others are not, look for a system built around your own requirements.
  • Spend time on discovery. Spleen decided after three to four sessions and shared detailed requirements.
  • Plan for early hurdles. Choose a partner who resolves them quickly.
  • Pick a partner who understands you. Understanding your business needs matters more than the size of the vendor.
